january (virtual) book club selection

Happy January! Thanks for bearing with me as we skipped Book Club for December. I had so many messages after our attempt in November saying you started the book or had wanted to start the book, but the Thanksgiving & Christmas season proved to be a little too crazy to participate fully.

So...it's a new month, a new year, and here's a new book!

I admittedly read this fantastic book when it first released last year but IT WAS SO GOOD that I really want to encourage you to read it, as well!

And to be honest, I couldn't wait to read it again.

I thought it was perfect for this season of my life as we're moving into a wonderful new home. As excited as we are though, I'm needing to remind myself to be content with much of the uniqueness and (dated) imperfections for awhile.

I'm sure I'm not alone in that quest.

For those of you who don't know Myquillyn Smith, she is the amazing mastermind behind the blog, The Nester and has been featured in countless home and shelter magazines through the years.

She and her husband have lived in 13 houses in 17 years (actually 14 - since the book was written, they bought a fixer-upper on a farm) and most of those homes were rentals. In fact, most of the spaces featured in the magazines were in houses they were renting!

Myquillyn shares her journey with us through the gorgeously photographed pages and helps us all see that it doesn't matter what our living situation, we can love our home and the imperfections that surround.

Her mantra, "It doesn't have to be perfect to be perfect to be beautiful" makes my heart sing in freedom. I hope it does yours, as well!

|| NOTE:  if you have the option, I'd definitely get this in real-book version rather than through your nook or kindle. It's one I leave out and refer to all the time because it's so darn beautiful! ||

Remember, here's how the (virtual) book club works...

(or click here for more information)

one

At the beginning of each month (or a few days before), I will share the book we will be reading so you have enough time to buy, download, or check it out from your local library. It may be faith-based, it may not.

two

Read the book, or as much of it as you can…if you don’t finish it, don’t fret! This is supposed to be fun, not another thing that stresses you out.

three

At the end of the month we will host an online discussion of the book, just as if we were sitting together in one of our homes. Bring your coffee drinking self and join-in!

We’ll simply chat through the Comments section of the post that day and talk all day long. I’ll facilitate with some questions and my impressions of the book…but topics can jump all over!

*If you’ve already read the book, feel free to swing by and share, as well!*
