Uganda Workout? + a GIVEAWAY
I have met the most amazing people via social media. Truly. For example, my Instagram friend Michelle has founded her own spiritually minded workout gear, called Cross Training Couture.
I know, that sounds a bit cheesy when I say it. Jesus and workout gear? But think again. Her clothes are the opposite of cheesy.
Michelle's story:
A few years ago I was browsing an athletic store when I stopped to read through the racks of tanks and tees.
"So I can look better than you."
"Eat my dust."
"Second place is first loser."
Curiosity got the best of me, so I kept reading through every shirt on the rack. After about 30 minutes, the verdict was in:
None of the shirts in the store represent why I work out.
I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be awesome to have some super cute tanks with some of my favorite Scriptures that motivate me to be healthy?"
So birthed Cross Training Couture. But it's is more than an inspirational fitness line.
Each piece of clothing is prayed over before they are mailed out - not only for the one who will be wearing it, but that seeds of the Gospel will be planted in the hearts of those who see it.
I love her mission, don't you?!
It's no secret I have a heart for Africa. And not just Ethiopia, where our kids are from.
It's also no secret our family has a passion for orphan prevention and keeping families together. It grips my heart every time I think about the fact that Ezekiel's mom is in Ethiopia without her sweet son...largely because she couldn't afford to feed him. That makes me so sad. So SO sad. I'm thankful the Lord entrusted him to us, though. I sure do love him.
But....Uganda Workout? What does that even mean?
The team over at Cross Training Couture were praying for a way to partner with an organization in hopes to make an even bigger impact and the phrase "Uganda Workout?" was coined. Initially though, they thought they were looking for an orphanage.
But God had a divine appointment in mind when The Lulu Tree contacted Michelle, and was in tears when she read the ministry slogan:
$15 of the purchase of this tank will go to support the Lulu Tree. The Lulu Tree is nationally-run non-profit working specifically with mothers in the slum of Katwe, Uganda, who are widowed and have HIV Aids. These mamas are single parents with young children, many of whom are also infected.
Funding from the Uganda Tanks will not only go towards paying for the staff's expenses as they serve the mothers of Katwe, but towards the weekly program they'll be running out of Remants Haven Ministries Center in Katwe. This two-year program will focus on helping the mamas fulfill their dreams of being self-sufficient and skilled in parenting and in their own trades; it will provide the tools and resources they need to get back on their feet and care for their families and to ultimately, end the cycle of poverty for their children. And it will all be done for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Thanks for helping us support this awesome ministry. Soo....Uganda workout?!
