DIY (chemical free) dishwasher detergent
Awhile back, I posted a recipe for DIY (chemical free) Kitchen Spray. Today I thought I'd share how to make your own natural dishwashing detergent.
I first want to point out the fact that my husband Ben now loves being the one to turn the dishwasher on before heading to bed, because it smells SO good! That was an unexpected plus!!
This is so easy, it almost seems silly to do a tutorial. Ready??
Ingredients:
Borax, Baking Soda, Citric Acid, Thieves & Purification Essential Oils.
Note:
As you're looking at the cost of all these items and adding them together, remember that this will be enough for months and months of dish washing. It actually comes out to be less expensive in the long run. Plus, these ingredients can be used in a multitude of other cleaning products.
Directions:
Pour 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup borax, 1/2 cup citric acid, into an appropriately sized jar.
Drop in 10 drops of Thieves essential oil, and 15 drops of Purification.
Mix well. Add 1-2 tablespoons of mixture into your dishwasher!
See? Told you it was easy. And hey, have your kids join you in making a jar...perhaps knowing they took part in creating it, they'll be more excited to run the dishwasher each day!
