Let's Party Like Girls (PHOTOS!!)
It's been nearly two weeks since our 4th Annual Let's Party Like Girls event and gosh...I'll never be able to describe the magnitude of how special it was.
If you live too far away and couldn't attend...I thought it'd be fun to walk you through the party...so you feel like you were there! And if you DID come...thank you!!! It was such an honor spoiling you so could leave filled and ready to pour out to others.
How cute are these Be Merry balloons? Target, you've done it again. And the sparkly rose gold sequin tablecloth is from Amazon. I think you need it. It's SO gorgeous!
Can you see the FUN greens and flowers flowing off the table? My amazing friend Sarah over at Something Styled Events + Florals handed me the flowers along with the challenge to try my hand at putting it together myself. It took me much longer than I'm sure it would have taken her, but I had such fun doing it.
Isn't it pretty?! Oh, and want my secret trick to making a pretty naked cake like this one? Then head here...you can thank me later, haha.
Since we expected around 80 ladies, I wanted to make sure we had lots of room to spread out if it got too tight to move around.
In the backyard, I set up little fire pits with everything needed for Smores...and a big basket of blankets in case our outdoor heaters didn't warm things up enough!
I love having this basket of blankets...we use them all the time.
I'm still so thrilled that a bunch of girls came early to help me set up. You know who you are...what a HUGE blessing that was...those last minute details are stressful!
We turned our kids' Study Room into the check-in area so coats could be hung and emails could be captured for updates.
Ben also let ladies know that if they didn't want to take an Angel Tree Tag home with them, they could sign up to have us purchase and wrap the gifts (not everyone lived close enough to easily drop gifts back off at our home).
Annnnd....Anton was selling his candles of which he is donating a percentage to Healing Waters.
He has a huge heart for clean water after seeing kids on a Water Walk when we were in Ethiopia so we're really excited about his new venture! (I'll get them up on my website soon. They're so yummy)
There may or may not have been a TON of laughing going on. To be with a group of world-changing women who want to invest in others is just so inspiring.
New friends and old...it was amazing seeing so many women come together for a lovely night and beautiful purpose.
Because there are SO many fun photos from the night, I'm going to put them in a slideshow so I can show y'all a BUNCH!
NOTE: if you're reading this on your phone, the slideshows will likely look weird. Sorry. Try and view it on your desktop if it looks too wonky. xo
Toward the middle of the evening, I clinked a glass and introduced Kimba from Free the Girls as well as Joy and Jen from Denver Dream Center. I just love hearing their hearts as they share about these incredible nonprofits.
I'm sorry to those who had a hard time seeing and hearing...the house was packed out!
We didn't count the bras until the next day but I'm SO thrilled to announce that you incredible ladies who attended donated over 230 bras. These will become inventory for the marketplace shops of women rescued from sex slavery!!
I'm SO proud of you all for doing such big work!!
And as for the Angel Tree with Denver Dream Center, you all have sponsored a TON of kids who have at least one parent in incarceration.
These photos below don't even begin to do it justice...every day the number grows and our entire piano area is so full we can barely get through the door into the dining area.
I deliver the gifts tomorrow...so you have a few more hours to bring more by if you're so inclined!! Last count we were at about 50...but I'm sure that will continue to go up!
It would certainly be easier to entertain without our little ones running around, but it's really important to me that they be part of my parties.
I want them to learn how to interact with adults and buy into the heart behind this important evening. I want them to know their presence is valued and don't have to be seen and not heard...or be forced upstairs.
That being said, there are some sit-down dinner parties where I do shoo them upstairs, but nine times out of ten, they help by bringing food, pouring water, and clearing plates (more on that here).
After hearing about the nonprofits we had linked arms with...it was time for the GIVEAWAYS!
Oh. My. Gosh. it was SUCH fun blessing the girls with all sorts of amazing swag from small business owners that believed in what we were doing so much that they gave and gave and gave some more!!
Next week I will be doing a separate post on the remarkable girl bosses who donated so generously. I can't wait to share the roundup with you.
It was really important to me that everyone leave with something so as everyone left, they grabbed one of these packages.
A huge, HUGE thank you to Heather + Kelsey at Denver Style Magazine (my latest article is inside!!) as well as Kathryn from All The Loveliest (I mean hellooooo...she hand paints coffee foam! WHAT?!) for donating 100 copies of your work so no one would leave emptyhanded!
See that cute little roller in there? I included a little bit of Happy, which is my favorite combination for emotional health.
If you're curious about essential oils, did you know I have a whole separate website about it? Head here!! It's literally changed our family. I thought it was mumbo-jumbo for a long time but have been using them about 2 1/2 years now and we love them.
Thank you again to every woman who attended, who supported, and who loved on one another on this night and beyond.
If I could, I'd totally hug your neck right now.
I can't wait for next year!!!!!
